The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to adjust our life indoors. While you are temporarily unable to work out in your fitness centre and yoga studio, that doesn’t mean you should stop sweating.
Exercise can help your immune system, burn fats and build lean muscles. It is also vital for our mental health.
You do not need any equipment, but your own body and a pair of shoes to work out at home. You may even tune in to free online exercise videos for guidance and motivation. Here are some exercises you can do.
Bodyweight Exercises
This is one of the simplest workouts to start with. You can build strength and burn calories with bodyweight HIIT workouts. Using your body as resistance to give you a challenging workout, you improve your balance, flexibility as well. You can choose a mixture of cardio and strength training with different levels of intensity. There are plenty of workouts available online such Popsugar Fitness Youtube Channel, or Singapore’s very own ActiveSg which consolidates a list of upcoming classes with certified coaches for the workout you are looking for.
If you have underlying health problems or risk factors for health disease, HIIT may not be safe for you.
Low Impact Exercise
If you prefer something lower-impact and knee friendlier, try some yoga. You can try Animal Flow, for a high calories burning and non-aggressive workout. For those who love a combination of stretching and mindfulness, Barre will help you stay energized the whole day with some much-needed endorphins boost. Here is a list of free barre fitness videos you can check out. Or, sign up with WeBarre for online classes.
Enhance Fat Burning
Applying transdermal creams that target subcutaneous fat, which is the fat directly underneath your skin, helps to improve the appearance of the skin. While the focus of a workout is on losing visceral fat, the right body creams and oils help to tone and firm the skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
For increasing the breakdown of stubborn body fat at specific areas, apply bSoul Hydra Body Mud before your workout. Your abdomen, buttocks and inner thighs will greatly benefit from the thermogenic activity of this natural mud-cream.
Those little knots of fats that you sometimes feel deep under the skin of your stomach and outer thighs, can get a little extra help from bSoul Sculpt Activator. Its fully soluble ingredients that penetrate the fat cells, help to break them down into smaller sizes so your body can break down stubborn fat faster. We recommend pairing bSoul Osmo Lipo Lotion with it to help drain the broken-down fats.
Post Workout Recovery
Stretching after workouts is not just meant for athletics, it helps your body to overcome the tightness in the muscles and deep fascia, and get rid of lactic acid. Myofascial release, or foam rolling, can be performed as well. If you do not have access to a foam roller, small sports balls such as golf or tennis ball work very well on the calves, glutes, lower back and shoulders. Include Meditrina’s QiActiv Myofascial Essential Oil in your post-workout recovery. If you find it too cumbersome to apply it after a sweaty workout, you can always do it after you have showered. It is okay to use it hours after you have stretched or foam rolled. The anti-inflammatory herbs help to reduce soreness and speeds up recovery for the next workout.
